In between two building sites, below cranes and surrounded by the beeping of reversing lorries, stands a plain white building where a flash of aquamarine through a service entrance hints at what lies within.
The aquamarine is the chassis of a 1966 Ford Mustang with Texas registration plates. Its bonnet is open and its front is raised and some engine parts lie on the ground. A long beige bonnet and burgundy roof lie by its side. Further in stand several cars in various stages of repair and renovation.
The Brentford building is home to the Romance of Rust workshop where Lance McCormack and his team rehabilitate and revive some of the rarest cars in the world. It is both a local and national treasure, known by enthusiasts all over the world for its ability to give classic cars a new lease of life.
